HISTORY
A Legacy Shaped Over Centuries
Khirasara’s story begins with the Jadeja Rajputs, an offshoot of the Dhrol State dynasty, tracing back over four centuries. The palace came into prominence under Shree Bhimaji, who chose Khirasara as his seat, shaping its early identity alongside the surrounding villages. Over time, the estate evolved through successive rulers, each leaving a distinct imprint.
Architectural expansions by Thakore Ranmalji and progressive initiatives under Shree Sursinhji reflect a legacy that was never static but constantly evolving. What remains today is not just a structure, but a living record of resilience, refinement and continuity rooted deeply in Kathiawadi heritage.
In 1999, the palace entered a new chapter when it was acquired with the vision of restoring its regal soul. Over eleven years, Khirasara was carefully revived, respecting its original character while preparing it for a new era.
Reopened in 2010 as a heritage hotel, the palace now bridges past and present with quiet confidence. Today, under thoughtful stewardship, it continues to evolve while remaining grounded in its origins. The restoration has not altered its identity but enhanced it, allowing guests to experience a space where history is not distant, but lived, through architecture, atmosphere and the stories it continues to hold.
